We Are Here for You

Feb 13, 2025

In these times when so much is changing so quickly, I want to be clear that the Forest Preserves will always work to stay true to our mission and to serve the public fully and fairly.

Our position paper, Amplifying Diversity and Inclusion summarizes our approach, “The Forest Preserves of Cook County will ensure the forest preserves are welcoming, inclusive, accessible and culturally relevant for all people—regardless of race, color, disability, sexual orientation, religion, age or gender—so all county residents can reap the benefits of spending time in nature.”

We are working to understand and address rapidly shifting federal policies. But the preserves, our amenities and our programs will remain a resource for all, including the entire immigrant community. This country is stronger, better, more interesting and more productive thanks to immigrants. And we will continue to celebrate diversity and reach out so that everyone knows they are welcome in the Forest Preserves.

-Eileen Figel, Interim General Superintendent
